Join one of the nation’s largest and most innovative housing authorities. CMHA is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to lead critical financial operations in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. This role involves managing complex accounting tasks, ensuring accurate, timely reporting, supporting audits, and mentoring staff, all while upholding our core values: Respect, Integrity, Accountability, Professionalism, Creativity, Initiative, Quality, and Excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead general ledger, reconciliations, AP/AR, and month/year-end closings.
- Prepare financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, including HUD.
- Support audits and ensure strong internal controls.
- Guide budgeting and financial planning efforts.
- Mentor staff and contribute to process improvement.
- Ensure compliance with public housing financial regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in accounting or finance.
- 5+ years of experience, including 2+ in a senior-level role.
- Strong GAAP knowledge and Excel proficiency.
- Experience in government or nonprofit finance a plus.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
